I know what you mean.  I experimented for weeks trying to come up with something original for [[Foilist]], playing with all sorts of 'adapting [[Stop And Go]]' and other movements that would fit with the [[WeekendObsession]] gun.  I think that the current nanobot paradigm is nearing its end.  If you really want to do something revolutionary, I would suggest trying to code a bot in [[Jasmin]].
