Neat! Have you considered Shadow/Melee Gun? I didn't have much trouble fitting a basic one into a MiniBot in BrokenSword. And I've barely tuned it at all, so I think there's a lot of room for improvement. His movement is what's really holding him back - BlitzBat (same movement) ranks just below HawkOnFire. But I wanted to start with the exact BlitzBat movement, for comparison.
Anyway, looking forward to see what you can accomplish with a Mini or Mega. You seem to have a pretty good feel for Melee. I really don't - I pretty much just grinded my way to the top. =)
To be honest, beside what i read in some posts i never had a look at this gun. I started once with a DC gun, but found it to complicated to make it right. I was looking for a fast adapting melee gun and i hope with the single tick matcher i made the right decision. Once i saw the idea for single tick i thought this would be neat - just to grab the last pattern from the memory and thats it. I guess i should have a look at the swarm targeting component of his gun and maybe i can extract this :).
I'm more and more convinced that the synergy of all components is the most important part of a melee bot, everything needs a counter part and therefor it makes a single component stronger than if it stands alone. The radar is a major factor, if it not fits the gun and movement it can break everything. I guess because most melee bots come from 1vs1 and so the radar is the most underestimated component.
I admire your sophisticated test environment for your bots and i guess it would help to find some combat settings much more quicker. I'm basically just sit in front of the client and watch the battles to spot some weak points :).
Well lets see what is coming out of it :)
