The Musashi Trick is a movement idea that dates back to the robocoder Axe, with his robot Musashi. The Musashi Trick can be used to get very high scores against [[Head-On Targeting]] robots. This is done by having your robot turn perpendicularly to the other robot and moving forward continually, resulting in all of the enemy robot's shots going behind you. The most common form of this is circling around your opponent constantly. However, without the proper implementations, such as [[Wall Smoothing]] and [[Anti-Gravity Movement]], your bot may get stuck very easily and bash itself against corners, resulting in a rather quick death.

The Musashi Trick means circling around the opponent (turning perpendicular to it and moving forward continuously). If the opponent robot uses Head-On Targeting, its shots will simply pass behind you, allowing you to achieve high scores against them.

Proper implementations of the Musashi Trick involve Wall Smoothing, Distancing, and choosing when to reverse direction. Without such techniques, your bot may become stuck or bash itself around corners, resulting in a quick death.

The Musashi Trick was invented by Axe, with his robot Musashi.
