It is all spelled out in [[Special:ListGroupRights]]. Below is the part of the old discussion. Note that SysOp is the same as Administrator.

First, you must understand that there are two type of administrator in MediaWiki. One is called SysOp and another one call B..... (I can't remember). The SysOP can block user, import page, restore deleted page and check unwatched page. While B.... can't do that but can manage the user right. e.g. They can assign someone as SysOp or B..... Usually, B..... will be SysOp but not all SysOp are B...... OK, ripped from User List page, the B........ is Bureaucrat. Here, there are 3 Bureaucrat/SysOp, David Alves (of course! the server owner), Voidious and GrubbmGait. There is one more special user called WikiSysOp, who is the first user that create during the installation of MediaWiki.

Active admins list

In case of bot invasion, it is handy to have admins list ready. To the best of my knowledge the current (people whom I seen on wiki in August 2017) list is

user Administrator Bureaucrat Server access
User:Chase-san yes no no
User:GrubbmGait yes yes no
User:Skilgannon yes yes yes
User:Voidious yes yes yes

User:David Alves own this wiki but unfortunately hard to reach.

One can see who was granted special rights by looking at Special:Log/rights, there are more people than listed above.

For some of them we have direct Contacts.

What can admins do that normal contributors cannot? --Awesomeness 07:03, 17 March 2009 (UTC)

It is all spelled out in Special:ListGroupRights.

If you are on Wikipedia, you should know that they told user that SysOp have nearly no extra privileges! except you want to import a large template from Wikipedia =) Hope that clear enough, or you should go and read something on Wikipedia about SysOp instead. » Nat | Talk » 09:40, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
