Talk:GuessFactor Targeting (literal)
Couldn't this page just be added to the introduction at the GuessFactor Targeting (traditional) page? --A.h.russ 03:43, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
I guess they probably could be combined. I think some of us like having totally separate pages though. The term "GuessFactor Targeting" first came to mean GuessFactor Targeting (traditional), then more people started using GuessFactors in other systems and took issue with the term "GuessFactor Targeting" implying Segmentation and Visit Count Stats. So it's kind of an important distinction when you're linking to one of them, but I could see it either way... --Voidious 13:29, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
I don't like this article to be combined. The GuessFactor is literally just a form of enemy movement data. But back in old days, like Voidious has said, the GuessFactor is used with Segmentation and VCS, so the term GuessFactor targeting is more commonly refer to a targeting system. In recent years, a lot of robots use GuessFactor with [[Dynamic Clustering[] (another legacy from old days, it is usually k-nearest neighbours), and thus isn't related to GuessFactor Targeting (traditional).
I think, if preferred, we could have GuessFactor Targeting and GuessFactor Targeting Traditional System instead. But I much prefer the current way they are managed. --Nat Pavasant 16:54, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
If this page was longer and actually talked about uses of literal GuessFactor targeting, I could understand keeping it. Since it's only two sentences long, though, I was thinking we could just add something like "Literally, any targeting system that makes use of GuessFactors can be considered a form of GuessFactor Targeting; however, this term is often used to describe ..." to the first paragraph on GuessFactor Targeting (traditional). I undertand that they are distinctly different things, but since Literal Guess Factor Targeting is not really used commonly and this page is just distinguishing the literal meaning and the common usage of the term, IMO it is more logical just as an extra sentence than a whole page. --A.h.russ 21:42, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
I do disagree with "Literal Guess Factor Targeting is not really used commonly". DC-GF targeting is fairly popular among some strong bots of the last few years. I think expanding this article would be good. --Rednaxela 00:03, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
