I might also play with some additional, less critical content under the current sections. Things like utilities, RoboResearch, more of the Eclipse/IDE links, maybe some particular tutorials or bots or other pages that just seem good for someone that wants to really start digging in. --Voidious 03:36, 13 February 2011 (UTC)

I think RoboRumble section should go above Challenges. And maybe the What is Robocode and Getting Started section should be combined together. One section I want to propose is the Robot section, where there is influential robots and/or important robots. (I'd say such as DrussGT as our current king, SpareParts as an example of multiple-parts robot, etc.) This should grab some beginner's attention more than discussion and theory page. Also, maybe influential Robocoder too? --Nat Pavasant 11:15, 13 February 2011 (UTC)

Yep, good suggestions. Also think it would be good to link to a page about wiki features like syntax highlighting, TeX support, RumbleStats, Archived Talk, file uploads, and so on. --Voidious 17:44, 13 February 2011 (UTC)

I tried a darker version of the color Rednaxela used, but I don't think it really matches the rest of the colors. I'm up for changing any of the colors, but I think we'd want to change link/vlink colors to match. I thought the Tools section would have more stuff, but I couldn't think of anything else that important. I'm not sure about "Influential Robocoders" since it feels kind of vain. =) And maybe off-putting to new people. I think the RumbleStats/TeX/article writing stuff should be its own page linked from here. Funny how many red links there are for stuff I think should be linked from the front page - I should get to work on those pages. Seems like room for another section under Tools - ideas? --Voidious 19:28, 13 February 2011 (UTC)

: Graphers? I still think it is quite important to understand how flat movement works, and how would wave surfer "optimized that on-the-fly" (quote ABC). I also think Graphical Debugging should goes somewhere in this page too, probably under Tools section (as it was once RobocodeGL/SG). --Nat Pavasant 13:38, 14 February 2011 (UTC)

: Yep, good ideas. Like Debugging. What about graphers? What do people use these days? All I've ever used is StatistRobot, and that was a long time ago. Do I need to get to work on that interactive graphical debugging bot I've been putting off? =) --Voidious 14:20, 14 February 2011 (UTC)

:: I don't think many use them today, through. But I find it very helpful in understanding basic of Robocode movement (and to check if you get your wave flattener right). I used to use StatistRobot, but I now I normally use FloodGrapher. : RoboLeague is a tool I sometimes used in the past, but I don't know if it is still working with the current versions of Robocode. I've worked with it with version 1.2.6, and I tried it with 1.6.1.4 and as far as I know, it worked with the last one. I think it's functionality is now completely replaced by RoboResearch. --GrubbmGait 16:13, 14 February 2011 (UTC)

I like it, cleaner, less nonsense, more info, better info. The only thing is that you don't see me as a serious robocoder . . . ;-) --GrubbmGait 22:01, 13 February 2011 (UTC)

Better I think... » Nat | Talk » 22:48, 13 May 2009 (UTC)

Cool, thanks. Anyone have any specific feedback / suggestions here? I'll plan on moving this to the main page later today. --Voidious 14:37, 18 May 2009 (UTC)

One thing I definitely agree is the removal of Current Event section. But I think I like old header more; this one is too white. And I still think link to old robowiki is a must. --Nat Pavasant 02:16, 13 February 2011 (UTC)

I also agree with the removal of the current events sections. I feel that the twitter on the side fills that purpose better. I too also like the old header colors more though. I'm not sure they were ideal though. --Rednaxela 02:53, 13 February 2011 (UTC)

When you guys say header colors, do you mean the gray background behind all the text on the page? Or just the top banner part? Or just the greenish that I made blueish? Man, I dunno if I just don't look at the main page much, but now that I'm critiquing it, I find it pretty hideous... =) Black text on gray bg is definitely a pet peeve of mine. I need some contrast! But the reorganization and the content are bigger concerns, of course. --Voidious 02:59, 13 February 2011 (UTC)

I disliked the greenish a bit, but I dislike the contrast being too high for the main title area, particularly with bold text. Also I found the big black bordered too contrasting. Perhaps the change here looks nicer on the eyes? User:Rednaxela/Main Page. Also, agreed that the reorganization and content are bigger concerns :) --Rednaxela 03:29, 13 February 2011 (UTC)

I like it, but I'd almost make the header background a bit darker if we're going to change it. (And I do agree with changing it now...) I personally like the black on white for the rest of the page. And the grey instead of black borders is nice, it's a bit less in-your-face. I don't have much attachment to the blueish vs greenish in the other headers - we had both in use (which I hadn't noticed) and I just picked one.
