Java 7 bots

Hey, and welcome! I think your bot is compiled for Java 7 compatibility. Some of us (and/or some of our machines) are still on Java 6, so could you compile your bots with Java 6 compatibility? Then everyone can run your bots and contribute battles for them to the RoboRumble. Thanks and good luck with your bots!

Hi Voidious

I think I have now re-compiled it for Java 6, but I'm new to using Eclipse and it would probably be best if you check it.

While I have your attention... I tried running a Roborumble but had big delays with it trying to download from robocoderepository.com. I have seen that it has been offline for a while, but I couldn't find anything about how to restrict downloads from that site (the EXCLUDE= option only seems to apply to bot names...?) In addition, I'm running the latest robocode (1.7.4.1), and I saw the upload error about your site only accepting results from earlier versions, but I could find a download for those...

Thanks, Steve

Hi mate. You can have a look here Starting with Robocode and start from there. There is also a link to the latest bot collection, just grab it and put it in the "robots" directory. You can not exclude robots from being downloaded but if you have the bots in your robots directory it won't try to download it anyway.

For contributing to the roborumble you need the 1.7.3.[0|2] client (not sure but i guess it is included in the superpack). Be sure to have a separate directory for every robocode installation and copy the bots to all the robots directories.

Java 6 compliance can you switch on in the preferences of you Eclipse project. Just search for it check the version and thats it.

Hope this helps and welcome to the robocode community.

Thanks for the advice Wompi.

I have downloaded the superpack and that seems to be running and uploading OK.

Now I've got the basics out of the way, it looks like I have a step learning curve ahead!

Cheers, Steve
